Week 37 - October 21-25, 2002

Charlie is in Washington, D.C. at a trade show. I went up to see the cabinet doors and check on flooring in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, when Judd went to pick up the doors, as he was loading them he noticed they were the wrong style! They were all there and finished, but were not what we ordered. The door manufacturer is going to remake them however, he is behind on another job and this will delay us getting our doors for another 4 to 5 weeks. Judd is hoping the manufacturer will be able to get them out quicker, but really doesn't hold out much hope. The good news is that the bifold doors that make up the telephone booth will work out ok.

Judd tells us that he needs 2 to 3 more weeks to finish the trim anyway, so we will just be held up on the job by a couple of weeks at most. Since the manufacturer is going to remake them at no extra charge, there will be no extra cost to us. What everyone seems to forget is that while we are waiting, the interest on the construction loan continues to accrue at a rate of $60 per day. I also met with a couple that specializes in custom countertops. He had some good ideas for the bathroom shower walls and tub deck using a solid surface material that he manufactures. Hopefully, his bid and our budget will agree! They were so impressed with the area that they stopped by the sales office to see what lots were available, hoping to someday build a log cabin.

It is now officially fall in Oklahoma, so I spent a little time driving around and looking at the fall colors in the trees.
