Week 40 - November 11-15, 2002

By the time we arrive early afternoon on Wednesday the 13th, the concrete hangar floor has been poured! It was poured in two sections with an expansion joint and looks really, really big. Amazingly, the level of the hangar floor and deck line up perfectly so no steps will be needed, just as we had planned!! Also the guttering had been installed over the weekend and I didn't even notice (that's a good thing).

With only one full day to work this week, we get an early start on Thursday. By mid-morning the rain starts again and we move our planer to the side porch and keep working. Judd works on the 4 inch band board which goes around all the rooms on the main floor. We deal with a few design decisions because the Andersen patio doors are not standard height!! Charlie and Judd patiently work on finishing the trim on the arches.
I've decided the half bath is too dark with no window so Judd agreed (after some persuasion) to cut out for a transom window. My brother is helping me design a stained glass window with a craftsman look. The opening is completely trimmed out and the window can be added later. Reluctantly we have to get back to Houston with much work still to be done before the painter comes in.
