Jan and I went to Oklahoma and found…………….RED IRON!!! Finally, the hangar is getting started. Of course, after one day the rain started pouring down and the work had to stop after only one wall was up. That is still Ok. At least it is started and we can get an idea of the size of the hangar. Lloyd Stelljes (the hangar builder) says they hope to finish by the middle of next week. Of course, the door will take another few days. Then a concrete approach has to be poured. But again, we got started… |

Inside the house, the painters are still working away.
They can't stay on the job too long because of the fumes created by the
lacquer on the woodwork. They have finished with the basement, and the
upper floor and even finished the painting of the walls. Now there seem
to be hundreds of doors, drawers, and drawer fronts left to do on the
main floor.

We now are able to also get a feel for the different wood
colors i.e. dark doors, light trim, dark cabinets etc. even though they
are all scattered throughout the house.

The painters still promise to finish on schedule at the end of next week. I spent most of the day on Friday the 13th in the county Sheriff's office still trying to get some satisfaction on my claim against the first hangar builder, David Stratton. It has for some reason been constantly bounced back and forth between the District Attorney and the Sheriff's investigator. I met with Danny Lewis (the investigator) and found out a little more. It seems that he had interviewed mr. stratton (capital letters intentionally left off) about 3 weeks ago and was told that mr. stratton was still planning on putting up the building and had a contract with me. After I explained that was not going to happen, he was called in with a copy of the "contract". What he brought was a copy of a letter of thanks from the building manufacturer (Mesco) for ordering the building. Also included was a contract showing he had paid 10% of the said building. The investigator couldn't seem to reconcile that with my story so I had him call Mesco. It turns out that they again didn't receive any money from mr. stratton and didn't have any record of that transaction. Also mr stratton seems somewhat taken aback that I am still after him. His biggest concern is (get this) that his church will find out about it and he won't be able to be a deacon any more. Amazing! Anyway, the investigator was going to have another investigator sign the papers for the arrest warrant and get him in custody that afternoon. (Interestingly enough, the investigator was a good friend of David Stratton and didn't want to make him mad by arresting him!) Welcome to the "good ol' boy network in Oklahoma. We will see next week how things are progressing. I need it to go forward by next week because the District Attorney is leaving office and we will have to start the entire thing over. But the silver lining………..We have RED IRON! |
