Week 45 - December 16-20, 2002

Jan and I flew to Houston on the 14th and drove back to Oklahoma on the 15th. The reason for the drive was to take some of the items we bought in Houston like lights, faucets, etc.

Arriving at the house, we found the painters working on the final coat of lacquer on the wood. We also caulked the deck posts to get them ready for painting. The wind was too much for the hangar crew to work, so not much happened the first day. The only other noticeable change was the green paint on the front doors.

On Tuesday, we went back to the house and cleaned the wood scraps off the deck and cut them into small pieces and hauled them off. On Wednesday, we spread some of the sawdust created by all our sanding and planing around the yard. This got rid of the two main piles under the front deck and finished the caulking of the deck posts.

Thursday, we spent the day hanging cabinet doors on the hinges. It is starting to look somewhat finished now. Thursday night, we went out with Judd and his wife Carol to Dry Gulch to ride the Christmas Train. That was an enjoyable way to relax for the evening.

The painters said they would be ready for the second 1 inch trim to go up no later than the next day. So Friday, we put up the trim piece and finished it by 2:00 in the afternoon just in time to leave for the drive back to Houston so I could fly my scheduled trip on Saturday.
Next week is Christmas and we plan to spend it in Houston. Even though the granite is scheduled to be delivered for the island and countertop on Monday the 23rd. We will let Judd handle the granite folks. Gary should finish the painting by Monday as well. Also, now that the hangar is starting to take shape, you can click on the "hangar" link at the top and get information on it as well.
