Jan and I plan to go to the site on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week to visit the site. If the rain doesn't slow things up, the plumbers should have the rough in plumbing completed on Monday. Then on Tuesday, hopefully the basement floor will start to be poured. Following that, the framer should come in and we should start to see some wood on the structure quickly. It is already starting to take shape. Now it is up to the weather. March 18... They have removed the forms from the basement walls. The only surprise here is that the door to the safe room is facing inside the house. We had planned on it facing toward the south of the house. I will talk to Calvin and find out why. I suspect it is because the room would have been blocking a window if it had gone where we had originally placed it. March 21...The rain has lasted almost all week. Jan and I had to leave today and bring our airplane back to Houston for another trip later. There was not much progress this week. We did get a chance to see it in person though and that was fun. As we were leaving, the concrete crew showed up to finish putting up the vapor barrier on the walls and install the french drain around the basement. Jan took a couple of photos of bringing the airplane out of the hangar and a couple taken as we left the property. One of the things we wanted to determine on this trip was whether a golf cart would be powerful enough to move the airplane up the slight incline into the hangar. It seemed to work quite well. Now it is a matter of determining whether to use a gas powered golf cart or the electric version. |

View from North Western edge of property. Surprise! The dirt guys and the plumbers showed up on Saturday. I didn't really expect anything to be happening over the week end, but they got a little bit done. I will be gone to a trade show in Washington all next week so I thought I would put these last couple of pictures up before I left. First, they did the backfill around the basement walls and smoothed out the dirt on the driveway. |

| The gravel will be used for fill which will have the basement floor poured on top of it. Notice the braces on the front wall. Hopefully, if the rain holds off, this will happen early next week. We will let you know....... Click here to go onto Week 7. | ||||
