The "Nurseries"
The nurseries (one for mothers and one for fathers) are provided as a place for parents to take their children to change them, discipline them, or (in the case of nursing mothers) to feed them.
They are not designed as a place to take the children to let them play. It is the duty of parents to teach their children to behave in the assembly.
The nurseries are not designed to be a place for the parents to socialize with other parents. A speaker is provided in the mothers' nursery in order to allow mothers to listen to the lesson. If you are engaging in social conversation with them or other mothers it would make it difficult for those who wish to listen. Please   be considerate. (Note: If at any time the speaker fails to work, please inform one of the elders or deacons.)
By God's grace and the grace of the Christians of this congregation these rooms have been provided to aid parents who dutifully assemble and bring their children with them. We appreciate and commend such parents. The nurseries are for use‹let's use them, but use them as intended. srf

Confusion or Cooperation
Most of us have no idea what it is like to try to be sure all assignments for service in the assembly are filled and that each man in the available pool of men is utilized regularly. Gregg Hutson works diligently to prepare lists weeks ahead of time that not only fill the assignments but attempt to distribute them fairly among the men. We appreciate his efforts and should tell him so. But more importantly, we ought to cooperate with him. Let's join him as he tries to be sure all goes smoothly during the assembly...
It's six or seven minutes before time to begin. Four of the men listed to serve have not shown up. Who to use? Have they been used recently? OK, let's use  John Substitute. But, where is he sitting? Is he in the foyer?  While finding him another minute or two goes by. Only four or five minutes left... Let's see, has brother Appointed shown up yet? Don't see him. OK, who next? I'll see if James FillIn will serve. Walk up the aisle, get his attention (he's talking to someone), and ask. OK, another down. But, now there's only two or three minutes left and yet a couple of places to fill. Have the ones appointed shown up yet? No time to wait. Must try to get these positions filled. Grab the nearest and most available guys. Ah, finally, it's time to begin and  just got it done!
Question: Would you want to spend the last few minutes before each assembly this way?! I wouldn't! We never have a lapse. There's always someone to serve. I'm glad we have a deacon who is committed to seeing that is so. But, couldn't we help him? The schedule of who is to serve is posted a week ahead of time in the bulletin. In the foyer it is posted several weeks ahead of time. If we are supposed to serve, could we not make it a point to be here ten minutes before time and check our name off so our brother would not have to worry about replacing us? If we know we will not be here or that we  will be here but will be running late, could we not give him a call so he would know it? At least we could call the building at least ten minutes before time to assemble and let some one know...couldn't we?
Cooperation or confusion? It's up to you and me, men. Can we make some changes for the better? I know you don't want to create a problem. None of us do. With a little forethought and consideration we may be able make it easier and more pleasant for our brother in the last few minutes before assembly. Let's do it, OK?
No, Gregg did not ask me to write this article. No, he has not been complaining. I have just been observing. Let's determine to cooperate with him. Maybe he would like to have a few pleasant minutes to visit with his brethren like we do.  srf

Genia Rice's mother, Ruby Jones, has been moved to the hospice at the Texas Medical Center. It is located at 1905 Holcombe, right next door to the Ronald McDonald House. Wouldn't it be helpful if you could just tell someone what city you would be in and they would tell you you what churches you could find there? Go to the church's web site (http://www.kingwood cable.com/colblip/humblechurchofchrist/ ) and you can do just that! Click on "Links" and then scroll down to "Directory of Churches." Click on that and then follow instructions on the screen that appears (you may need to scroll down) . . .
