Wednesday Evening Close
The elders appreciate the cooperation the men of the congregation in speaking at the close of the Wednesday evening assembly and the work they put into their lessons. It turned out so well that the elders thought it would be good to do it again.

We would like to encourage as many men as we can to participate once again. However, we do not wish anyone to feel coerced to participate nor to feel ashamed if they do not. Encouragement to develop one abilities and potential for service is the aim, but if for some reason you cannot or do not wish to participate, please mention that to one of the elders. Also, if your name is not on the list and you would like to be in the rotation, please let one of the elders know.

Due to work schedules, being out of town, illness, and other factors, this list will change. We will try to put notice at least four weeks ahead in each bulletin. However, if you wish to check further than four weeks, the complete updated list will be posted in the foyer. Check the list to the right. If you see conflicts, let Steve know so he can reschedule you.

Based on the comments we received, this practice was a real positive for congregation. We look forward to itąs good influence again. Letąs all work toward that end! Continue to encourage these men and let them know you appreciate their willingness and their efforts. And men, letąs apply ourselves to do the best we can to serve our brothers and sisters and to glorify our God!

NEWS

Margaret Wilborn had surgery on her leg Friday evening at Methodist Hospital. She did fine. They put a pin in her leg. She is in Methodist Hospital, room D748 (Dunn Tower), 713/790-6604. She is expecting to be released on Monday . . . A congregational meeting is scheduled for next Sunday after evening assembly. Among items to be discussed are: dates for winter meeting; FridaySunday vs. SundayFriday meetings; monthly classes and Bible reading activities; pew angle question; draperies; preachers under consideration for support; suggestions for meeting preachers; reroof flat portion of building roof. If you have other items you like to see addressed, please let one of the elders know . . . Menąs training class is scheduled to resume Thursday, September 7, at 7:30 P.M. We will discuss some guidelines and tips for lesson preparation, e.g., proper attitude, how to research, compiling notes, tools for study . . . Visitation group two will meet today after evening assembly. . . Our next gospel meeting is with Wayne Chamberlain, November 10-12, 2000, FridaySunday. In 2001, Mark Roberts is scheduled to come in the winter and Warren Berkley in the summer.
