Game #8 Report (8/28/00)

    ICE DOGS RUN OUT OF TIME - (RANGERS 10- DOGS 8) 

Report - As the famous football coach Vince Lombardi used to say, "We didn't lose, we ran out of time !! " - the Dogs scored 3 goals in the final 3 minutes with incredibly strong momentum to have won this game in just a couple more minutes - but the Rangers prevailed - good game guys.    

Terry Hurd and Tony Valdavia each delivered big on HAT TRICKS - so its hats off to a great game for Terry & Tony !   Unfortunately, the Dogs suffered a Defensive breakdown in the first 10 minutes of the third period - wherein the Rangers streaked to extend their lead from 6-5 to 10-5 on four straight breakaway runs.  (Hate it when that Happens)    The Dogs called a time-out to regain composure - and then came off the porch in a full run to pop-in the 3 straight unanswered goals - the final two in the final 9 seconds of the game !  Hot, hot, Houston Hot !!       

End of Season - This was the Summer finally for the Ice Dogs INAUGURAL Season !  It's a team building thing ya' know.  Gotta start somewhere - congratulations to all of the Ice Dogs for pulling together, getting re-calibrated to a new league, and learning to skate as a team.  Ice Dog management is actively seeking to reinforce during the off-season and is reportedly holding tryouts during the next couple weeks to bolster Defense and a couple forward spots.   And - last, but not least, THANKS TO ALL OUR FANS - it was great to see you all come out to the 7pm Sunday game against the Griffs - we Love ya'll  !!
