B. History of HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL SCHOOL

In early 1994, a group of parents and other interested people in the Atascocita-Kingwood area met to discuss plans for a superior quality private school for northeast Harris County, within the discipline and care of the Episcopal Church. Contact was made with the two Episcopal churches in the area - Christ the King Episcopal Church (Atascocita) and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (Kingwood), with favorable response and interest. Initial visits were made to other Episcopal schools within the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to discuss operations, problems, and possible obstacles. The Bishop of Texas was notified of the plans, and the diocesan office was kept informed of each step in the process. The enterprise was incorporated that year as Holy Trinity Episcopal School of Greater Houston, Inc.," and Independent School Management of Wilmington, Del., was retained to conduct a market and feasibility study. Their findings were very encouraging and, in early 1995, the corporation received designation as a 501(c)(3) entity by the IRS. A strategic planning retreat, under the leadership of Dr. Annette Smith and --the Reverend Rod Smith, refined the plans further and identified the steps necessary to bring the project to fruition.

In 1997, a permanent campus site was located and secured in a strategic area of northeast Harris County on Beltway 8, and efforts began to build a broader base of supporters, donors, and trustees. Dr. Marina Ballantyne, who founded The John Cooper School and has assisted with the start-up of two other private schools, was hired as a consultant. The school plans to open in leased facilities adjacent to Christ the King Episcopal Church in Atascocita in time for the 1999-2000 school year. In the meantime, plans are moving forward to secure the necessary funds and resources to hire a Head of School and proceed to opening.
